How to Make Your Beard Softer
Share
One of the most commonly asked question here at The Bearded Bastard is how you can make your beard softer. We’re here to help you out by offering a few key tips and tricks to getting your beard soft AF.
- Keep That Beard Clean
A soft beard does not come to those who keep their beard filled with the days snacks and dirt from your rugged adventures. Kill two birds with one stone by giving your beard a good wash while you’re in the shower. Just be sure to rinse thoroughly to get all the product out. Make this a habit roughly 3-4x a week.
This is going to give your beard a clean foundation for the steps to come. Plus, massaging the skin when washing improves circulation and can speed up the hair grown process (full winter beard, here you come).
- Get That Beard Oil Going
Beard oil and beard balm are going to be essential in the process of achieving a softer beard. During your morning routine, simply plant a few drops of your favorite bastardly beard oil in your hand and massage it into your beard all the way to the skin.
This is going to add moisture, which is a key component to having a soft beard.
Applying beard oil regularly is going to get you on the path to a cloud-like soft beard.
- Grab Some Beard Balm
Not only is beard balm going to help lock in moisture, but it’ll tame that rugged mane. Simply snag a small pea-sized amount and rub in between your fingers before massaging into your beard from root to tip. This step would follow the application of beard oil, or replace it if you’re not an oil guy.
Our beard balm will absorb quickly into your beard so that you don’t have to worry about any post-application greasy feel.
If you’re partial to beard oil or beard balm (as in one or the other), that’s totally fine. However, if you’re using the products in conjunction with each other, you’re going to see better results at a faster pace.
- Brush It Out
Looking for another tool in your tool box? Grab a solid beard brush with boar hair bristles and get yourself one step further to a soft AF beard. The soft bristles of our boar hair beard brush allow you to tame and train you beard over time without the pain of snagging and pulling. Brushing will also help distribute the natural oils of your skin, in addition to your go-to beard oil.
- Hydration Is Key
You’ve heard us say it before and we’ll say it again, hydration is key to a healthy beard. Your beard may be dry because it’s lacking proper hydration. Making sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day not only promotes a healthy body, but a healthy beard as well.
A diet containing healthy fats will also help you on your path towards a softer beard. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as avocado, eggs, nuts, and salmon.

Y’all are the best. Love your products – I use a combo of oil (Morocco and Tangerine Dream) with balm (Opium Den). Does conditioner help too? Thanks use shampoo (1/wk) and conditioner (3-4/wk) that’s meant for dyed or damaged hair. Anyhoo, thanks for being an awesome group of peeps and products.
